Wolverine Lake

Location: Wolverine Lake is located in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada east of the City of Williams Lake. Turn northeast off Hwy 97 at 150 Mile House, 25 km (15.5 mi) south of Williams Lake. Turn left onto the Likely Rd. This road will take you to the community of Likely. From the Quesnel River Bridge at Likely, travel NE for 1 mile and turn left. Keep on the main road (Keithly Creek Rd.) for another 7.9 miles and then turn left onto the Jacobsen Bros. logging road. Follow this for 2.2 miles and then turn right. It is 0.1 miles to Wolverine Lake. This is a good logging road open to the public.

Resorts & Campsites: Wolverine Lake has asmall open site BC Forest Service Recreation Site with campsites. Car top boats can be launched at the site.

Fishing Report: Wolverine Lake is said to produce good numbers of rainbows in the 4 to 5 lb. range.

Viewscape: Moderate sized hills surround Wolverine Lake. Wolverine Lake is 95% forested in spruce, lodgepole pine, and alpine fir, with mountain alder fairly abundent near the lakeshore. The southeast corner of the lakeshore has been logged, along with extensive areas at several chain distances away from the lakeshore.

Shoreline: 100% peaty brown forest soil with a grass border averaging 10 feet around most of the lakeshore.

Nearby Lakes

Rollie Lake - Rollie Lake is situated about 9 km (5.58 miles) past Wolverine Lake on the same road. Rollie is about half the size of Wolverine and contains wild stock rainbows in the 2 lb or better class. Flies, lures and trolled gear are all reported to be very successful.

Cariboo Lake - Cariboo Lake, just a short distance from both Rollie and Wolverine is another lake that should definately be explored. Cariboo Lake is situated about 24 km (14.88 miles) north of Likely on the Keithly Creek Rd. A large lake with a mean depth of 18 meters (59 feet), it contains wild stock rainbows, Lake Char, Kokanee and Dolly Varden. Some very big fish have been taken from this lake. Trolling seems to be the most popular method of fishing.
